What happens when we die?

There may be as many beliefs about life after death as there are people in the world.

I only know what I believe about what happens when I die.

I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was eleven, but I was raised in a home where I didn’t learn how to nurture an ongoing relationship with Him. So I did the best I could to be a good person. I can assure you, I was not successful.

During a life and death crisis as a young adult, I had to decide if God “is” or He “isn’t “. I didn’t want to die. But I didn’t want to live life the way it was then. So I made the conscious decision to believe He “is” and I would let Him help me.

My life lessons since then have shown me more about who God is – and taught me to love and show compassion to others. To me, God is everything worthwhile and the source of all love. I don’t want to be separated from that for one second, much less for eternity.

And if I come to the end of my life and what happens isn’t what I believe, I haven’t lost anything by believing what I do about God. In this life, I’ve experienced a constant source of help and love that never fails.

But if I had not decided that God is everything, and after I die it turns out He is, then I’ll spend eternity separated from any love or goodness. That’s a forever I don’t wish to contemplate.

I believe I will step from what I know in this world – into eternity with the God who is everything.

I want you there with me and God. I pray that you find and follow God in the way He wants you to.

  1. We are so blessed to have the promise that life after death is eternal joy with God. I’m not sure what I’d do without that hope.
