Permanence
I want to achieve permanence—the security that permanence provides.
And I want permanence in every aspect I can achieve it:
— Physical health
— Secure finances
— Emotional, mental, and spiritual wholeness and peace
Repetition
Repetition is the only way I know to achieve as much permanence as possible. I have to consistently and constantly repeat actions:
— Eat healthy, sleep enough, and stay mobile
— Work to pay bills, and be prudent with saving and spending
— Renew my mind and spirit by clinging to God, and limiting exposure to the negativity in the world
Perseverance
Perseverance is the only method I know to keep repeating the actions that can create permanence. But how do I persevere when I’m tired, or stressed, or overwhelmed?
Face reality and admit what’s wrong.
And if I don’t know exactly what’s wrong, I need to get quiet and ask God to help me figure it out.
Many times, it’s that I’ve stopped repeating what I did to be healthy and at peace.
Sometimes, fear has crept in, or waged all-out war, on my spirit. And I need to wage war back to not only survive, but thrive again.
Regardless of why I’ve gotten off balance and I’m not healthy or at peace, I have to ask God for the strength and wisdom to keep trying.
To decide to persevere.
To decide to never give up. No matter what.
And remember that if I persevere and repeat healthy actions, I won’t achieve perfection. I may not be healthy and at peace all of the time. And it may not even be the level of health, security, or peace that I really want.
But if I don’t try, I’ll certainly suffer more pain and distress.
And if I do persevere, I’ll achieve as high a level of permanence as possible—and the health, peace, and security that permanence provides.

The ability to persevere is vital to good health and happiness. If we have that tenacity to never give up then we will accomplish much. Sometimes the stubbornness label people accuse us of is what keeps us going when the going gets tough. (Although, I will admit there are times when we may need to reassess and analyze our plans). Good message, Joni, thank you.
Thanks so much for reading and sharing your thoughts, Katherine.
Encouraging post.
Thank you for reading and commenting, Phyllis. I’m grateful my post was helpful.
I persevere by focusing on what will happen if I don’t do what is right for me, with God’s help. He knows how much sleep I need. He knows what I need to eat to be healthy and provides biofeedback when I eat something wrong. He knows what I need to accomplish the goals He sets for me and will see me through. He establishes repetition to make it permanent.
Thank you for reading and sharing, Jane. I, too, am thankful that God is in control and helps me!
What helps me persevere is keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus—(thinking of Hebrews 12:1-2). Only possible by His strength! Blessings, Joni!
