The Price
Someone always pays a price to benefit others. At times, a high price.
And sometimes, it costs everything.
In 1933, a P2Y flying boat on a long-range training flight over the Pacific, went down in a terrible storm and rough seas. When the flight attempted the water landing, the waves destroyed the aircraft. Multiple souls on board perished.
This accident helped the U.S. Navy adapt so other flights were successful. The people on the P2Y paid the price to move aviation forward, which benefited all of us.
Paying The Price
Most of us pay a price to help others in some way. Thankfully, the cost isn’t typically the price paid by the P2Y crew.
Farmers and workers who get food to the grocery store, mechanics, law enforcement, armed services personnel, office workers, and the rest, pay the price.
Every person depends on the price paid by a multitude of others. And each of us pays a price to help others who depend on us.
Every person is valuable. And more importantly, invaluable.
But not just because of what we do.
But because we’re alive.
Paying The Debt
The other essential responsibility is paying the debt.
Some people may not know or feel they’re valuable—or invaluable.
Even if I don’t know the price someone has paid to help me, or even if I know they haven’t paid a price, I owe a debt to others.
And the price I pay for that debt is to:
— Be kind and respectful to affirm each person’s value and invaluability.
— Understand I don’t know what others are really going through, regardless of their behavior.
— Pray for everyone.
— Help in the ways I can.
I’m grateful for the price everyone pays to benefit others. And I’m thankful I know that regardless of the price someone paid, each of us is invaluable.
