Harper Lee got it right. When I create what I think is a realistic expectation and it doesn’t happen that way, anything from disappointment to depression to total disillusionment ensues. Not to mention getting angry at the world and everything in it. When I analyze the situation, it almost always means I’m not trusting God to take care of me.
My best path:
- Do what I think God wants me to do.
- Leave the outcome to Him.
It reminds me I’ve done my part, and God always does what’s best for me – whether or not I like the result at that moment.
Simple, but not easy.
When I’m thinking clearly, the choice is simple. Do I want peace? Or do I want something that isn’t God’s best for me?
