For the last few weeks, life has swirled like fallen autumn leaves in a strong wind.
I’d like to say I stayed focused on the important things that needed to be done.
That would be a “no”.
For the tasks I’ve accomplished, I’d like to tell you I stayed calm in the swirls.
Another “no”.
Sometimes I’m swirling and moving so fast, I don’t pause long enough to realize I need to stop swirling and moving so fast.
But I’m thankful that when I’m in that state, God is there, and He gives me a way out.
The way out this time was the funeral of a former neighbor of mine. And it helped me remember what’s important:
Being mindful that every moment matters.
To make every moment matter, I have to:
— Slow down.
— Breathe.
— Ask God to direct my thinking and actions, and give me the ability to do what He wants.
If I don’t, the winds of life can blow me into a whirlwind that keeps me from making every moment matter.

I love your thoughts of — “Slow down. Breathe.” I have to be very intentional to do that. There seems to be so much to do. Especially this time of year. But maybe this time of year is actually intended to help us remember what’s really important. Thanksgiving and a little baby in a manger that becomes a Savior.
Thank you, Jane. I appreciate what you share and I’m glad my blogs are helpful.
Thank you for this post, Joni. I think we all, myself included, tend to move too fast at times. Our fast moving and actions can be doing really good things, but even doing good things without slowing down and giving thought to how we might be serving God can be detrimental to our lives. For me, taking time during the week to intentionally slow down and seek God’s direction for things is a big help.
Thanks for reading and sharing, Tim. I’m grateful for your thoughts and your support.
