An Audience of One

God put a desire in my heart to write. To be encouraging and helpful.

I’m One

A favorite quote is from author Susan May Warren:

“If the writing journey hasn’t changed you, you’ve missed the point.”

Every word I write changes me.

Sometimes I read my previous blogs and think, “Wow! Thanks, God, for giving me the words I need to hear.”

Every Reader is One

Years ago, I had a heart-to-heart conversation with God about wanting millions of readers and being well-known for my wonderful writing talent and unsurpassed repartee.

He asked me a simple question. “Joni, if all the words you write all of your life only help one person accept Me so they spend eternity with Me, is that worth your effort? Is one person worth it?”

Well, after that reminder of what’s most important (and many tears of repentance for being too focused on the things that don’t last), I answered. “Yes, God, even if only one person is helped by the words I write, that’s enough.”

— I write and let God bring the readers He wants to read the words.

— I write even if only one person reads it.

— I write even if only one person needs it.

— Every person who reads my words is the one.

THE ONE

I ask God for every word I write.

I’m thankful I have the opportunity to write for:

THE ONE. Who gave everything for every single one. And would have still given everything even if there had been only one.

  1. I love this post! You might be writing for one, but I’m sure you have helped more than one.

That’s just how God does it. Focuses you in, and then expands the small into something big… like the loaves and fishes.

You’re blogs definitely help me every week. I look forward to each one.

I also love your thought that we can be the one we are writing for. As far as who I can influence… I just write for me and hope for the best that what works for me will help connect someone else to God.

  4. Great reminder, Joni. If only one person….

  5. Joni, God said this same thing to me. “Find the one”. This took the pressure off of building platform and seeking followers. Thanks for sharing this encouraging post.
