Agatha’s statement certainly applies to more than writing novels.
I can only live life one moment at a time. Obviously. I definitely need headlights for the journey. Sometimes I can see the potholes in time to avoid them. Sometimes not.
If I try to peer into the dark future, the possibilities swirl and anxiety overwhelms me.
If I look to either side, I can easily run off in the ditch. Or plow into trouble. (That’s happened more times than I care to admit. With results I won’t scare – I mean share – with you at this moment.)
If I look behind me, I’m focusing on something I can’t change. No matter how I’d choose to rewrite it.
So my best course is to concentrate on what I can see in front of me. And when I reach the edge of that, I need to wait until the next right thing to do is illuminated in the headlights.
Safe travels, everyone.

One night a few years ago, I was heading home from Bible study when my headlights went out. I made it home using my flashers. The lesson that night? Jesus is the light of the world. Does God have a sense of humor, or what?
Glad you made it home safely! May also prove that solid or flashy, any light helps in this world. Mainly THE Light of the world. Thanks for sharing.
One of the fun things about writing novels is that we can live through the characters we write. Unless they have supernatural powers they can can only see so far ahead, too. Thanks Joni!
I agree, Tim. But it can be difficult on the real emotions when I’m living the emotions of my characters! HA HA Appreciate your support and comments.
