Improve Point of View

Improve Point of View

Point of view — POV — is how I view the world.

And while I only have ONE POV, I have multiple points of view. Some that need to be improved.

POV #1

P – Positive

O – Optimistic

V – Visionary

This point of view makes my world a friendly place, and helps me feel peace and hope.

POV #2

P – Pessimistic

O – Offended

V – Vexed

This point of view makes my world a harsh place, and unfortunately, keeps me from having peace or hope.

POV #3 and counting

A combination of #1 and #2, and any other emotion on which I choose to dwell.

POV in Life

I’m a pragmatist. I perceive what’s going on in the world. And many times, that’s upsetting to me.

But I don’t have to absorb that into my spirit.

I don’t want to absorb the negative into my spirit.

I can choose to take steps to adjust my POV.

Improving POV

One thing that ALWAYS shifts my POV from any negativity is making a gratitude list.

The more distress I’m feeling, the longer the list needs to be before I begin to perceive the positive again.

And my focus returns not only to my blessings, but to the Giver of those blessings.

Ultimately, a positive change in POV reminds me of the hope I have that God is in control and He always causes things to work out for my good. Regardless of the outcome of any situation I perceive.

  1. Thanks, Joni. Trying to view things from God’s point of view helps me. I know I don’t fully understand His point of view, but from what I know about Him from the Bible, striving to see things as He sees things helps.

I appreciate your sharing, Tim. I’m thankful God’s Word and Spirit give me the understanding I need, and that God takes care of me.

  2. My point of view is changed when I go to Psalm 34:3: “O magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together.” When I start magnifying God instead of my circumstances, my perspective is in a much better place!
Thanks for the blog, Joni. Great job!

Thanks for the verse, Kim. Yes, I’m grateful God helps me refocus on what is important.

  3. To go along with Phyllis, trusting God in each situation helps improve my POV. Taking needed breaks from the world, and shutting down for short periods, also helps me improve my POV. Great post, Joni!! You always have a lot of insight:)

Getting quiet and asking God what to do next always helps me, too. Thanks for sharing, Jane.

It helps me to remember God is sovereign, all-powerful, wise and good. I don’t see the whole picture, but God does and I can trust Him.
