Something I say often is, “I figure the longer I stay active, the longer I’ll be active.”
The longer I live, the more true that becomes.
Many people in my neighborhood walk each day, so perhaps they feel the same way.
One gentleman who walks past my home appears to be moderately disabled. His gait is irregular, but he keeps going.
I don’t know the cause, or if he’s in pain.
We chatted briefly one day. He told me he walks 45 minutes to an hour daily. He was courteous and cheerful. If he was in pain, he didn’t complain or unload his pain on me. And then he continued his walk.
Disabled, possibly in pain. Courteous. Cheerful. And he keeps moving.
I’m so thankful for his example.
It reminds me I must persevere physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Regardless of my limitations or what causes them. I must get the help I can for any pain.
But even if I’m in pain, I can, and must, be courteous and cheerful. I don’t know what others are going through, and if I complain, I might inflict more pain on them. And I don’t want to do that.
And no matter what, I must keep moving. To the best of my ability with God’s help.

You are so right. Moving fixes a lot of issues that occur as we age. If something on my body hurts, I try to move it more and force it to work. Paul said, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection:” 1 Corinthians 9:27. 😉
Thanks for sharing your perspective. Appreciate you reading and commenting!
I feel better when I’m moving. I can tell when I’ve been too sedentary.
Totally agree. But I am learning the value of rest as well. The balance between the two is a life-long journey for me. Thanks for sharing!
That is exactly what my Mother always says – Keep moving! She just turned 98 and feels fortunate to be moving each day.
Thank you so much for reading and sharing. It’s so encouraging to know you and hear about your mom. 🙂
