What Makes Us Who We Are?

The dates in the image are reminders of triumphs and tragedies shared by Americans.
History records those events. And how we reacted to them.
Time gives perspective about how well we navigated the challenges.
And if we worked to make things better — to benefit our fellow human beings.
Every experience adds to who we are.
And hopefully shows us who we can be…
If we keep trying to show love and compassion, and act with integrity and honesty.

There are dates that mark reminders in my life. Some events terrific, others tragic.
My memory records them. And how I reacted to them.
Time has given me perspective about how well I navigated the challenges.
And if I worked to make myself better — to benefit my fellow human beings.
Every experience adds to who I am.
And hopefully shows me who I can be.
I must keep trying to show love and compassion, and act with integrity and honesty.

Prayers for everyone who lost someone they love on September 11, 2001.

  1. Thanks for sharing this Joni. Like Jane, prayer is a big part of navigating challenges in life. I don’t always do it well, but listening and watching for opportunities to help or comfort someone who is going through something I’ve already been through is a way I can benefit others.

  2. Great post! Now, to answer the questions:

I can only navigate the challenges of life through constant prayer and resting on God for His help and intervention.

Right now, at this time in my life, the way I work to benefit others is through prayer, also.

I find nothing works better than prayer, in all circumstances. If given the opportunity to do something more and in-person for others, then I would definitely try to do whatever God called me to do:)
