I can relate to Piglet. My mind can be dangerous territory.
And the internet can give me all the misinformation and horrific answers I could hope to find.
Regardless of what causes the consternation, one thing is true:
Worry doesn’t change the outcome.
I first heard that phrase from a friend who had battled cancer multiple times, and was waiting for the results of a medical test. The news was not what any of us wanted to hear, and my friend fought a while longer before stepping into eternity.
Not only does worry not change the outcome, it’s a waste of time. Time I can spend in healthier or more helpful ways.
I try to remember to pray about it right away. And remind myself that God has taken care of me every day of my life, and He isn’t suddenly going to leave me on my own.
At times, I can reason my way out of the worry. Logic is a wonderful thing, as far as it goes.
It can also help to talk to someone I trust.
But there have been times when I’m just scared and can’t get out of it by logic, or sharing it with someone, or willing away the worry.
So I continue to pray and ask God to remove the worry. And give me the wisdom and strength to turn the cause, my emotions, and the outcome over to Him. I pray every time I think about it. And quote Bible verses to remind me of who God is, and what He does for me.
Sooner or later, I’m less anxious or I have more insight and peace about the situation. I’m so thankful God listens and answers.
It isn’t always the answer I hope for, but this is one of the things my life experiences have proven:
“In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and He answered by setting me free.” Psalm 118:5 (NIV)

I loved this post! It was so helpful to me and I am going to do what you do when I start to worry in the future. I actually might print this post out as a reminder of the steps I need to take… it’s so good… thanks!
I’m glad the post was helpful. Thanks for reading and posting.
Thanks Joni. I try to do all I can and after that, leave it to God. I am still a pretty major worrier, so easier said than done for me.
Difficult for me not to worry as well, Tim. Thanks for reading and sharing.
I have always said pray don’t worry. But at times it is hard, but God is always with us. Thank you for the reminder.
Thanks for reading and commenting. And I agree that it’s difficult. It’s because I would prefer a problem-free life – for me and everyone. ha
